THC Design - 24K - BUDS Smalls - 14g

THC Design 24K BUDS Smalls is a half ounce of indoor indica from Los Angeles: 14 grams of smaller buds in a resealable pouch. The brand lists 24K as Tangie x Kosher Kush, the pairing also sold as 24k Gold or Kosher Tangie. Its notes run to orange, tangerine and lavender, with clove spice at the end. On our shelf it is the citrus indica, bright at the start and calm by the end.

Genetics & Lineage

THC Design gives the cross as Tangie x Kosher Kush. Those are the parents of 24k Gold, also called Kosher Tangie, and Weedmaps tags this pouch 24K Gold. Leafly's Kosher Tangie page credits DNA Genetics, while SeedFinder files the strain under Crockett Family Farms. The credits overlap: DNA released Crockett's Tangie under the DNA name in its early years, and bought Crockett Family Farms in 2019. THC Design has not said whose seed or cut it started from.

Tangie came from Crockett Family Farms, a California Orange and Skunk cross that DNA traces to the Tangerine Dream of the 1990s. Kosher Kush began as a clone-only OG Kush selection in Los Angeles that DNA later offered as seed, per Leafly.

The name gets reused. BSF Seeds sells an OG 24K (Kosher Tangie x Bubba Kush), and Mephisto Genetics makes an unrelated autoflower called 24 Carat. Neither is this pouch.

Flavor & Aroma

Orange and tangerine come first in THC Design's notes, then lavender, then clove spice, with a sweet citrus taste that hangs on after the exhale. Limonene is the citrus-peel compound, linalool a major aromatic in lavender, and caryophyllene the spice in black pepper and clove. Abstrax's 2025 analysis of DNA's 24K Gold, done with DNA, found the same three on top; Leafly's strain page leads with myrcene instead.

Leafly reviewers mostly taste orange, with some grapefruit and pine; Weedmaps' tags add blueberry and mango. Abstrax files DNA's version under what it calls Tangie Gas, citrus over OG fuel; THC Design's notes leave out the fuel and lean floral. Grind it fresh: the orange jumps, and the lavender shows best on the first pulls.

Effects

Euphoric, creative and deeply relaxing, with a mild sedative edge: that is THC Design's pitch. That reads like the parents meeting halfway, Tangie's lift and an OG's weight, and it is why reports split. Weedmaps tags the pouch energetic and focused alongside relaxed and sleepy. Leafly's 24k Gold reviewers lead with relaxed, happy and uplifted, its effect meter leans energizing, and one reviewer calls it "functional and happy." Kosher Kush alone reads sleepy, relaxed and hungry on Leafly, a hint of where a heavy session ends up.

Most reports describe an upbeat start and a slow loosening after. Small amounts stay social; a big bowl after dinner is where the sedative side takes over. Dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness are the complaints Leafly users raise most.

Best For

  • Evenings that start social: the lift carries dinner, and the calm lands about when you get home
  • Tangie fans who want to sit down: familiar orange with OG weight underneath
  • Low-key creative time: a sketchbook, a record, a puzzle on the coffee table
  • Unwinding after a shift: relaxed without being knocked flat from the first pull

Not for: early mornings, workdays that need full focus, or anyone after a racy, all-head sativa.

Pairings

Food: lean into the orange. A cannoli from Stella Pastry, gelato on Columbus, or focaccia from Golden Boy before the couch calls. Music: Chet Baker, Sade, or whoever is playing jazz on Columbus that night. Activity: a lap of Washington Square Park as the lights come on, a long dinner, then a movie at home with the snacks open.

Cultivation

THC Design is an indoor grower based in Los Angeles. Ryan Jennemann and Seth Hilsabeck, friends who grew up together in Oklahoma, launched it publicly in LA in 2014, according to a 2017 National Cannabis Industry Association profile. The company entered California's licensed medical market in 2016 and adult-use in 2018, and says it has grown more than a hundred varieties; High Times called XJ-13 its signature strain in 2018.

BUDS is the line this pouch comes from: the same indoor flower that fills THC Design's full-size jars, the brand says, in smaller nugs and resealable pouches of 5, 14 and 28 grams. Smaller buds usually grow lower on the plant, where less light reaches. Same flower, smaller pieces.

Dosing

New to it: one or two small pulls, then ten minutes. The relaxed side follows the citrus lift; let both arrive.

Regular smoker: a small bowl or half a joint covers an evening. Save round two for after the body side settles.

Heavy tolerance: a full joint works, and that is where the sedative edge shows, so plan on staying in.

Storage

Keep the pouch sealed, pressed flat to push out air, somewhere cool and dark. Limonene and linalool evaporate faster than caryophyllene, so heat or an open pouch costs you the orange and lavender first. Move what you will not smoke this week into an airtight jar, and skip the fridge, where moisture is the risk.
