Connected - Toad Venom - Pre-Roll - 1g

This is Toad Venom from Connected Cannabis Co.: a single one-gram straight roll of indoor flower from Animal Face x Sin Mintz, the cross on Connected's own strain page. Connected labels it an indica; Weedmaps files the brand's 3.5g as a hybrid. It is also one of the most talked-about names of 2026, a September top strain pick on Leafly and the year's hottest strain according to GreenState. Connected's version smells of honeydew and papaya over funk and smokes heavy, a joint for once the day is done.

Genetics & Lineage

Animal Face x Sin Mintz is the cross on Connected's strain page, and the outside record agrees. GreenState credits the pairing to Ronin Seeds of Los Angeles, Seedfinder agrees, and Leafly lists Ronin alongside West Coast Connoisseurs. Animal Face is Seed Junky Genetics' Face Off OG x Animal Mints, the plant Fig Farms rode to first place in indoor flower at the 2022 Emerald Cup. Sin Mintz comes from Sin City Seeds, a cross of SinMint Cookies and Zkittlez; Leafly lists SinMint Cookies in that slot, one generation back.

The well-known cut has a backstory. GreenState reported in February 2026 that the keeper came from a run of about 30 seeds of Ronin's cross popped at Green Dragon in North Hollywood in 2021, and went by the nickname Becky at first. Connected has not said which cut it grows or where it came from. Seed companies now sell their own takes too, including Philosopher Seeds' Philo Toad Venom, a Toad Venom x Permanent Marker cross, and Growers Choice's Toad Venum.

Flavor & Aroma

Connected says the nose is loud the moment the package opens: sweet honeydew and papaya riding on a funky base. The smoke starts earthy, almost like cocoa, goes tart and melony in the middle, and closes on papaya. Weedmaps tags diesel, mint and peach. Terpenes for Toad Venom have not been published by the brand.

Other growers' versions read gassier. Leafly's reviewers, pooling every grower's Toad Venom, report chemical, cheese and blue cheese most often. GreenState's writer tasted mint cookie from the Sin Mint side, lime candy from the Zkittlez and a gasoline bite from Animal Face. By Connected's telling, its cut leans toward the fruit, with the funk underneath tying it back to the rest of the family.

Effects

Connected is direct about the intent: potent from the first pulls, a heavy, loose body and a calm, contented head, made for sitting back. Its strain page puts it plainly: "Toad Venom carries real weight for a reason."

Reports elsewhere run less sleepy. Weedmaps tags it creative, energetic, euphoric, happy and relaxed, and Leafly's reviewers lead with aroused, energetic and creative. GreenState's writer described a soaring euphoria with a body feel that was neither racy nor sedating, and reported a newer smoker going numb and freezing up for half an hour. The fair summary: a strong high that may start bright and land heavy, depending on the batch and the person.

Dry mouth, dizziness and paranoia top Leafly's complaints. Go slow, and smoke it where you can stay put.

Best For

  • The end of the night: Connected built its whole pitch around winding down
  • Strain chasers: the name GreenState called 2026's hottest, in a single joint
  • Fruit-and-funk fans: honeydew and papaya over an earthy, cocoa-tinged base
  • Seasoned smokers: Connected, Leafly and GreenState all describe it as strong, even where they split on sleepy
  • A slow Sunday at home: nowhere to be, nobody waiting on a text

Not for: daytime errands, a low-tolerance smoker going solo, or anyone after a light social buzz.

Pairings

Food: tropical fruit to echo the papaya, or a square of dark chocolate for the cocoa side. For something savory, pick up a slice at Golden Boy Pizza on the way home. Music: Portishead's Dummy or Massive Attack's Mezzanine, low and slow. Activity: walk the Embarcadero at dusk, head home, then light it. This is a blanket-and-couch joint, not a climb-the-Filbert-Steps joint.

Construction

The format is Connected's straight roll, which Metrc lists as the brand's 1g Straight Roll, packed 25 singles to a case. Rather than tapering like a cone, the paper holds one width from filter to tip, and inside is plain indoor flower with no kief, oil or infusion. Connected's Weedmaps listing for its straight rolls makes the case for the design: straight sides and a three-stage grind it calls proprietary so the flower packs uniformly and burns evenly, a 10mm filter wider than standard to keep the smoke cool, and a spiral tip to keep the airway from clogging. Those are the brand's claims, not our measurements, and the listing does not name the paper. Behind it is a Sacramento company Caleb Counts started in 2009, which launched the Connected brand in 2018.

Dosing

New to it: this may not be the place to start. If you go ahead, take one small pull and wait a full ten minutes.

Regular smoker: a third of the joint, then reassess. Smoked flower keeps climbing for a few minutes after the last pull.

Heavy tolerance: half to the whole thing, at home, with snacks within reach.

Storage

Store it sealed, out of the light, at room temperature or a little cooler. The honeydew and papaya are the delicate notes, and heat and air dull them first. After opening, finish it within two weeks.
