Connected - Gelato 41 - Pre-Roll - 1g
Connected's Gelato 41 pre-roll is one gram of indoor Sunset Sherbet x Thin Mint GSC flower in the brand's straight roll, sold as a single and not infused. Connected's strain page labels it an indica-dominant hybrid, while Weedmaps files it as an indica. This is the Gelato number on Connected's list of legacy strains, and the parent of the brand's Emerald Cup winner, Gelonade. Expect a pungent first pull that opens into candied fruit and waffle cone, and a heavy, easy body that Connected suggests newer smokers save for evening.

Genetics & Lineage
Sunset Sherbet x Thin Mint GSC is the Gelato recipe itself. Leafly credits Mario Guzman, the Cookie Fam breeder known as Sherbinski, with making that cross more than a decade ago. The seeds produced a run of numbered keepers, and Sherbinski has named #25, #33, #41, #45, #47 and #49 among them. Number 33 became Larry Bird. Leafly notes that Bacio Gelato, the name Sherbinskis uses, is Gelato 41.
Connected's role is grower, and breeder of what came next. Gelato 41 sits on Connected's list of legacy strains, and it is half of Gelonade (Lemon Tree x Gelato 41), which took top indoor flower and the indoor Breeder's Cup at the 2021 Emerald Cup. Biscotti, which Connected says it created in 2016, draws on a different number, Gelato #25. Alien Labs used the #41 in Area 41, a parent of Connected's Chrome. Connected has not said where its own cut of the #41 came from.
Plenty of growers sell a Gelato 41, and seed banks such as Seedsman sell packs under the name. Seed-grown plants vary, so other versions only get you close.
Flavor & Aroma
Dessert with an edge is the short version of Connected's notes: a sharp, pungent snap first, then coriander, candied fruit and caramelized waffle cone. The brand names three prominent terpenes, D-limonene, beta-caryophyllene and alpha-humulene, and they track with the tasting notes. Limonene brings the bright citrus side, caryophyllene the peppery bite, and humulene a dry, woody edge that keeps the sweetness from turning syrupy. Weedmaps tags range from berry and citrus to diesel, pine and spicy herbs.
Over on Leafly, reviewers pooling every grower's Gelato 41 most often taste lavender, pepper and something flowery, and Leafly's terpene data puts caryophyllene on top, then limonene and myrcene. Lavender is not in Connected's notes; the spice is, in the coriander and the caryophyllene.
Effects
Connected calls Gelato 41 a heavy hitter and advises newer smokers to keep it for evenings; its product page sums it up as sweet, creamy and strong enough to set you daydreaming. Weedmaps tags it creative, euphoric, happy, relaxed, sleepy and uplifted. Leafly's reviewers narrow that list: relaxed, aroused and tingly come first, and Leafly's write-up describes a heavy body high that leaves the head fairly clear. Taken together, expect the mood to lift early and the body to get heavier as the night goes on.
The cautions come from the same crowd. Anxious and paranoid rank near the top of Leafly's negatives, ahead of dry mouth, so a fast, heavy session can tip the wrong way. Pace it.
Best For
- After dinner: a slow joint once the plates are cleared
- Gelato loyalists: the #41 itself, the number behind Gelonade and Area 41
- Dessert-flavor smokers: candied fruit and waffle cone with a peppery edge
- Movie night at home: relaxed is the effect Leafly reviewers report most
- Indica-leaning regulars: heavier than Chrome, more dessert and less kerosene than Gascotti
Not for: mornings, a work afternoon, or anyone whose mind tends to race on strong flower.
Pairings
Food: dessert, of course. A sacripantina from Stella Pastry on Columbus Ave, or a cup of gelato on the walk home. Golden Boy Pizza first, if you want the munchies handled early. Music: stay in the North Beach jazz lane with Chet Baker Sings or Bill Evans' Sunday at the Village Vanguard. Activity: an evening lap of Washington Square Park before you light up at home, then a movie with the lights down.
Construction
Gelato 41 comes in Connected's straight roll: one width from the filter to the tip, rather than a cone's flare. Metrc lists it as Connected's 1g Straight Roll, packed 25 singles to a case, and it holds plain flower only, with no kief, distillate or infusion. According to the brand's Weedmaps listing for these joints, the straight walls and a three-stage grind Connected calls proprietary are meant to pack the flower evenly so it burns steadily, a 10mm filter wider than most is there to cool each draw, and a spiral tip helps stop clogs. Those are Connected's claims, not our test results, and the listing does not say what paper is used. Connected is based in Sacramento, and its CEO said in 2021 that it grows indoor, mixed-light and outdoor; this joint is indoor flower.
Dosing
New to it: one slow pull, then ten minutes on the couch. Connected's own advice at this stage is evenings only.
Regular smoker: half the joint will carry an evening. Put it out and save the rest.
Heavy tolerance: the whole gram, start to finish, on a night with no early alarm.
Storage
Keep it in its original packaging, out of the sun and away from the stove or a hot car. Air and warmth dull the candied-fruit and waffle-cone notes first, and those are half the reason to choose Gelato 41. Once opened, plan to finish it within two weeks.
