Connected - Bluephoria - Pre-Roll - 1g

The name is the recipe: two Blue parents and a euphoric lean. Connected's Bluephoria is Blue Dream x Blue Runtz #10, labeled a sativa-leaning hybrid by the brand and rolled here as a one-gram straight roll of indoor flower. The surprise is the nose. Connected's tasting notes read more like a flower stall than a blueberry muffin: rose petals, lavender and cedarwood over sweet berry, with whipped cream on the finish. On our Connected shelf this is the daylight joint; Biscotti, Gascotti and Permanent Marker all lean indica.

Genetics & Lineage

Blue Dream x Blue Runtz #10, published on Connected's own strain page under the label Sativa Leaning Hybrid. Blue Dream is the Northern California clone-only classic, DJ Short's Blueberry crossed with a Santa Cruz Haze by most accounts, and Weedmaps notes that no single breeder claims it. It is the sativa-dominant parent and the reason this high points up. Leafly and Weedmaps list Blue Runtz as Blueberry x White Runtz from an unknown breeder, an indica-dominant candy cut. Connected has not said where its Blue Runtz came from or what set #10 apart, so that story stops at the number.

A caution on the name: Purple City Genetics bred a different Bluephoria from Slurty 3 x Gush Mints, the plant AllBud describes and the one on Massachusetts menus. Reviews of that cut tell you nothing about this joint.

Flavor & Aroma

Connected publishes no terpene list for Bluephoria, though its pages for Biscotti, Gelonade and Electric Blue each name three. So go by the tasting notes, not a lab sheet. The brand's nose: rose petals, lavender, cedarwood and sweet berry. Its inhale: berries, whipped cream, rose water and lavender cream, ending in what it calls "a soft, dessert-like finish." Weedmaps tags the strain berry, earthy and sweet: fruit up top, wood underneath.

The parents explain the split. Leafly has Blue Dream as myrcene-led, and its reviewers mostly taste berry and blueberry. Leafly's Blue Runtz crowd reports pear, blueberry and vanilla, the likely source of the cream. Do not expect blueberry candy. Expect a berry joint that smells like someone just walked past with a bouquet.

Effects

Connected's pitch is energy first: a lift in the head that comes on smoothly and never gets heavy. Weedmaps tags it creative, euphoric, relaxed and uplifted, with the head arriving first and the body following, minus the heavy eyelids. That is the Blue Dream pattern; Leafly's reviewers of that parent lead with creative, euphoric and happy. Blue Runtz reviewers lead with relaxed; one calls it comfortable without being dazed.

Written reviews of Connected's cut are scarce so far, so read this as the brand's account plus the parents' track record. Dry mouth leads Leafly's negatives for both parents, with dry eyes and dizziness behind it. This is strong indoor flower, and a sativa-leaning gram smoked fast and alone can turn racy. Two pulls, then a ten-minute pause. That is the move.

Best For

  • A North Beach afternoon: smoke at home, then climb Telegraph Hill to Coit Tower while the lift is fresh
  • Blue Dream loyalists: the same upward berry lean with a creamier, more floral finish
  • Making things: a sketchbook in Washington Square Park or an hour with the poetry shelves at City Lights Bookstore
  • Smokers tired of gas: lavender, rose and berry instead of the pine and kerosene in Gascotti

Not for: bedtime, anyone chasing fuel and funk, or a low-tolerance smoker planning to finish the gram alone.

Pairings

Food: something creamy. A slice of sacripantina from Stella Pastry on Columbus Ave, or a cappuccino at Caffe Trieste. Music: the easy joke is Miles Davis, Kind of Blue, and it works from the first bass line. Joni Mitchell's Blue if you want words. Activity: a walk along the Embarcadero or a late lunch that turns into the afternoon. Save the Gascotti for after dinner.

Construction

This is a straight roll: one gram with parallel sides from the lit end to the filter, where most pre-rolls taper into a cone. Metrc files it as a Connected 1g Straight Roll of plain flower. No kief, no oil, no infusion. Connected's own product pages say nothing about how its joints are built, but the brand's Weedmaps listing for this pre-roll does: straight sides, a three-stage grind it calls proprietary, a wider 10mm filter and a spiral tip meant to cut down on clogging, all for an even burn and a cooler pull. Those are Connected's claims, not our measurements. The listing does not name the paper, so we will not guess. The flower comes from the breeding program behind Biscotti (2016) and Gelonade, the 2021 Emerald Cup indoor flower winner.

Dosing

New to it: two small puffs, then set it down for ten minutes. The lift arrives fast, so you will know.

Regular smoker: stop near the halfway mark. Tap it out and save the rest.

Heavy tolerance: finish it, preferably with company and a plan for the next two hours.

Storage

Keep it sealed in its original packaging or an airtight container, cool, dark and dry. Heat and open air take the aroma before they take the strength, and the lavender and rose notes are the reason to pick this one. Finish it within two weeks of breaking the seal.

FAQ

Is Connected Bluephoria indica or sativa? Neither, strictly. Connected's label is sativa-leaning hybrid. Weedmaps files it as a hybrid, and some California menus shorten it to sativa.

What is the lineage of Bluephoria? Blue Dream x Blue Runtz #10, per Connected's strain page. The brand has not published more about the #10 selection.

Is this the same Bluephoria other brands sell? No. Purple City Genetics bred a different Bluephoria from Slurty 3 x Gush Mints, and that is the one AllBud describes.

What does Bluephoria taste like? Berries, whipped cream, rose water and lavender, per Connected. Weedmaps tags it berry, earthy and sweet. More floral and creamy than blueberry candy.

How strong is this pre-roll? Strong. It is indoor flower with nothing added, and batches vary, so check the label.

What is a straight roll, and how is this one built? Parallel sides instead of a cone's taper. Connected says its version uses a wider 10mm filter and a spiral tip.

Can Bluephoria make me anxious? Smoked too fast, any strong sativa-leaning flower can turn racy. On Leafly, both parents draw the same complaints: dry mouth, dry eyes, some dizziness. Go slowly.
