Genetics & Lineage
Granddaddy Purple, or GDP, is a famous indica introduced by Ken Estes in 2003 as a cross of Purple Urkle and Big Bud. Purple Urkle contributes the signature grape-and-berry flavor and deep purple coloring, while Big Bud lends dense, oversized flowers. It's one of the most recognizable indicas in California.
Terpene Profile
Myrcene leads and drives the heavy, relaxing body effect GDP is known for. Caryophyllene adds a peppery, grounding base and tension relief. Pinene contributes a faint fresh, earthy note. This myrcene-forward profile is a big part of why GDP trends sedating.
Flavor & Aroma
The pre-rolls burn with a sweet grape-and-berry flavor over a floral, earthy base, the classic GDP profile. The smoke is smooth, and the aroma is unmistakably grape, sweet and slightly dank, with a floral lift. It's one of the most identifiable smells in cannabis.
Effects
Granddaddy Purple leans firmly indica, opening with a euphoric mood lift that gives way to a heavy, relaxing body calm. Onset comes on within a few minutes of smoking. Over the next hour the relaxation deepens, easing tension and inviting rest, with a finish that trends sleepy. Each half-gram pre-roll runs roughly one to two hours depending on tolerance. It's moderate to potent.
Best For
- Evening and nighttime wind-down
- Physical tension and stress relief
- Winding down toward sleep
- Quiet nights, movies, and downtime
- Sharing or pacing a relaxing strain across nights
Terpenes & Cultivation
UpNorth is a California cultivator, and this five-pack is filled with milled Granddaddy Purple flower rolled into natural paper cones (no concentrate, no infusion) so each pre-roll smokes like the flower it's made from. Five 0.5g cones make up the 2.5g pack.
Dosing & Storage
Dosing: Each pre-roll is a half gram, a comfortable single-session size, and a little goes a long way with a potent indica. Light the tip, take a slow even draw, and put it out to relight later if you don't finish. Storage: Keep unused pre-rolls in an airtight container away from heat and light to preserve freshness and keep the flower from drying out.
