Alien Labs - Atomic Apple - Pre-Roll - 1g
Alien Labs' Atomic Apple is a one-gram straight-roll pre-roll of indoor hybrid flower, bred from Triangle Mints and Apple Fritter. The brand describes sour apple candy with a streak of fuel and a vanilla cream finish. It also has a past life: SF Station reported in 2020 that early batches went out as Cosmic Crisp, until Washington State University, which owns that apple's name, sent a cease and desist. On our Alien Labs shelf it sits between the daytime BK Satellite and the sleepier Brain Wash.

Genetics & Lineage
Triangle Mints x Apple Fritter is printed on both the pre-roll and 10g flower pages at Alien Labs. Leafly says Seed Junky Genetics made Triangle Mints from Triangle Kush and Animal Mints, a sativa-leaning plant with an herbal, spicy nose and a diesel edge. Apple Fritter is the apple-pastry strain that Leafly and SF Station both tie to Lumpy's Flowers, reported as Sour Apple x Animal Cookies, though SeedFinder files its breeder as unknown.
The brand kept breeding with the result. Leafly lists Agent X, a 2022 Alien Labs release, as Atomic Apple x Xeno #1.
Flavor & Aroma
The brand's own tasting note is short: sour apple candy, a little fuel, vanilla cream. SF Station called it "an explosion of caramel, spiced apple, and yogurt," with sweet gas once the bud is broken apart. Leafly's Florida reviewer, smoking a jar from that state's medical market, smelled Cookies and OG, then got sour apple on the dry pull with spicy, gassy notes behind it. Leafly's strain page lists apple, apricot and a chemical note, and the brand's Weedmaps tags add mint, diesel and earth.
Limonene, myrcene and caryophyllene are the lead terpenes on Alien Labs' list. Limonene, the citrus one, fits the sour candy top. Caryophyllene gives black pepper its bite, and Leafly ranks it first in both parents, which squares with the spice tasters keep mentioning. Expect sour apple candy up front and a cookie-and-fuel exhale behind it, not a glass of cider.
Effects
Another dimension is all Alien Labs promises, so go by what smokers report. Leafly's reviewers lead with uplifted, relaxed and euphoric, and the page sums up the effect as mostly energizing. Weedmaps tags it creative, focused and euphoric. SF Station singled out the speed, a quick rush of euphoria, and noted that both parents tend to loosen the body. The Florida reviewer found it strong and very stoney on an evening stroll.
Read together, that is a fast, happy head and then a body that settles in, with dose deciding which half wins. Dry mouth, anxiousness and dizziness top Leafly's reported downsides, the usual toll of strong flower smoked too fast.
Best For
- A slow afternoon: smoke at home, then take the long way up Telegraph Hill to Coit Tower
- Apple Fritter fans: the same pastry sweetness, plus mint and fuel from Triangle Mints
- Low-stakes creative time: a sketchbook in Washington Square Park, or the poetry room upstairs at City Lights Bookstore
- Sharing: it lands fast, so one gram stretches across two or three friends
Not for: bedtime, a low-tolerance smoker finishing the gram alone, or anyone who wants fruit with no gas.
Pairings
Food: lean into the pastry side with a sacripantina from Stella Pastry, or cut the sweetness with a square of focaccia-style pizza from Golden Boy. Music: Blondie's Atomic, because it has to be, then Cal Tjader's Soul Sauce for some Bay Area vibraphone. Activity: a lap of Washington Square, the climb up the Filbert Steps, or a late lunch on Columbus Ave that drifts into the evening.
Construction
Cones flare toward the lit end; this joint keeps parallel walls from tip to filter. The state's Metrc system logs it as an Alien Labs 1g Straight Roll, cased by the 25, and we sell it singly. Nothing rides along with the ground indoor flower: no kief, no oil, no infusion. Alien Labs' website skips the engineering, but its Weedmaps straight-roll listings lay it out, and these are the brand's claims, not our findings: a proprietary three-stage grind, straight sides for an even pack and burn, a wider 10mm filter for a cooler pull and a spiral tip to fight clogging. No paper is named, so we will not guess.
Ted Lidie, who founded Alien Labs, once lived in San Francisco, and he has said the alien in the name meant outsider as much as extraterrestrial. The brand's motto tells those outsiders they are not alone.
Dosing
New to it: two short pulls, then set it down for ten minutes. It arrives quickly, so you will know where you stand.
Regular smoker: half the joint carries an afternoon. Pinch it out and save the rest.
Heavy tolerance: the full gram, ideally passed around. Give the body side time to catch up with the head.
Storage
Keep it sealed, cool and out of the sun until you light it. Limonene is among the quicker terpenes to fade, so the sour apple top is the first thing a warm or open joint loses, leaving mostly gas. After opening, smoke it within a couple of weeks.
