Khalifa Kush - Khalifa Kush - 1g

KK is the strain Wiz Khalifa's cannabis brand is named for, sold here as a single packaged gram of flower. Khalifa Kush has never published its parents, saying only that KK was developed for Wiz in the early 2010s; its Weedmaps copy calls it an indica-dominant hybrid OG. Expect lemon, pine and OG fuel. A gram is enough to learn whether the strain behind the name suits you, on an afternoon or evening with no tight schedule.

Genetics & Lineage

KK keeps its pedigree private. The brand's website says the strain was developed for Wiz in the early 2010s, tailored to his taste and held in his stash in Los Angeles; its Weedmaps copy puts the year at 2012. Wiz decided to share it in 2014, and the first Khalifa Kush flower went on sale two years later at Reef dispensaries in the Southwest, per the brand.

Weedmaps lists OG Kush as the parent, and Leafly says KK is believed to descend from an unknown OG. The origin story Leaf Magazine told in 2022 is that KK began as an especially skunky variety of Berner's OG, and that Berner, the Cookies co-founder, gave Wiz the cut and helped launch the brand. KK has not confirmed whose OG it was.

KK is also the root of the brand's crosses. Khalifa Mints, KK x The Menthol made with Compound Genetics, came first, and Violet Sky, Baby Turtle and Point Breeze all trace back to it.

Flavor & Aroma

KK's Weedmaps notes run lemon, pine, creamy kush and gas, with a smooth smoke that tastes of piney kush and OG fuel. Weedmaps' strain page adds kerosene, lemon-lime, a chemical-cleaner edge and savory pepper; Leafly's reviewers mostly taste pine, lemon and citrus.

KK has not published a terpene breakdown. Leafly's strain data leads with limonene, then myrcene and caryophyllene, and that lines up with the notes: limonene for the lemon peel, caryophyllene for the pepper, myrcene for the earthy base. Leafly's 2022 launch review found the nose soft at first, then sweet, gassy, spicy and dank once ground. Grind it right before you roll.

Effects

KK pitches a strong, balanced, all-day smoke with a high it claims never tops out, aimed at daytime and creative work, and says many smokers compare it to OG Kush.

Reviewers agree on the strength and split on the direction. Leafly's reviewers lead with relaxed, giggly and happy. Its 2022 launch review found KK fast and hard-hitting, a "potential one-hitter quitter," with a brief paranoid moment after the first hit. A 2026 Fat Nugs review of a New Mexico batch described a euphoric wave, then a mellow body high, giggly and not especially focused. The fair read: a head-first OG that settles into the body.

Dry mouth, dry eyes and anxiety are the complaints Leafly users raise most. Pace the first few pulls.

Best For

  • OG loyalists: lemon, pine and fuel from the strain a whole brand was built on
  • Testing KK before a jar: one gram tells you whether to come back for the eighth
  • Wiz fans: the cut he kept to himself for years before it went public
  • A slow afternoon off: pitched for creative daytime use; reviewers report relaxed and giggly
  • One joint for two: a gram rolls a solid joint to split with a friend

Not for: a first-timer smoking alone, anyone who gets anxious on strong OGs, or a workday that needs sharp focus.

Pairings

Food: a sandwich from Molinari Delicatessen, or Liguria Bakery focaccia if you get there before it sells out. Music: Wiz Khalifa's Kush & Orange Juice mixtape, the obvious pick, or Rolling Papers. Activity: after a session at home, a slow lap of Washington Square Park, then dinner on Columbus.

Cultivation

When KK reached California in January 2022, Cresco Labs named its FloraCal Farms the sole cultivator, and the flower debuted at Cookies stores. Leafly's launch review said the plants were tissue-cultured by Node Labs and grown indoors. In July 2025 Cresco announced plans to sell its California operations.

The Metrc item on this gram now ends in Reefer.Farm, which presents itself as a farm-direct wholesaler of brands grown in California, made to order and delivered statewide. It has not published where it farms or its exact role with KK, and KK's website names no growing partner.

Dosing

New to it: one small pull, then ten minutes. Reviewers call KK fast and strong.

Regular smoker: a bowl or half a joint, then let the body side arrive before deciding on more.

Heavy tolerance: the full gram in one joint, shared or solo, with the evening cleared for it.

Storage

Keep it sealed, cool and dark until you open it. A single gram has a lot of surface for its size, and limonene evaporates faster than caryophyllene, so the lemon goes first once air gets in. If it will sit more than a few days, move it into a small airtight jar.
